Trophies Sparkle at the UK Jewellery Awards

Over 600 key figures from the jewellery industry attended the 18th annual UK Jewellery Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel on the 14th July. Lisa Snowdon presented the awards on a night that proved to be fantastic for all involved. Laura McCreddie, Editor of Retail Jeweller said:

"The UK Jewellery Awards is the must-attend event in the jewellery calendar and last night showed, once again, why that is. My congratulations to the finalists and especially to the winners, who all thoroughly deserved their trophies."

The custom designed awards were produced from solid aluminium, finished with a mirror polish and detailed with sand engraving. And what jewellery awards would be complete without Swarovski Crystals! The amethyst crystals were worked into the UKJA logo design to give the awards that extra sparkle.

Super Gran Awarded for her Astonishing Bravery

The 16th annual Police Bravery Awards took place on the 7th July at The Savoy Hotel in London to salute Police Officers who have gone beyond the call of duty. Prime Minister David Cameron welcomed the 59 nominees to Number Ten before a glittering awards ceremony.

Gaudio Awards were again proud to supply the Jill Dando Award, which is given to a member of the public who has made a major contribution to fighting crime. This year's recipient was seventy-one year old Ann Timson.

Ann became a national heroine after foiling a sledgehammer raid on a jewellery shop by tackling six armed raiders with her shopping bag. The gang had pulled up on scooters and began smashing their way into the jewellers in Northampton town centre. Mrs. Timson ran down the street towards the yobs despite being confronted by the revving scooters on the path. The gang tried to escape but Mrs. Timson landed several blows against one of the men on the back of a scooter. Another of the gang members threatened her with a hammer but the courageous grandmother kept hitting him and called out to raise the alarm. When the police arrived at the scene, other members of the public had apprehended one of the men who was then arrested. Five members of an organised crime gang have since pleaded guilty to the attempted robbery.

Chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales, Paul McKeever says:

“Mrs Timson showed astonishing bravery and her heroic actions are very deserving of this prestigious award. Mrs Timson had tremendous courage and her instinct to intervene and stop a robbery is an inspiration to us all. She demonstrated true community spirit in wanting to help others despite potentially putting her own life at risk.”

Gaudio Designs Bespoke Trophy for Bluelamp Foundation Celebrity Golf Day

Golfers from across the UK flocked to Ramside Hall in County Durham on July 1st 2011 to take part in PC David Rathband's 1st Annual Golf Day & Gala Dinner. Blue Lamp Foundation patron Duncan Bannatyne was there showing his support, and even offered to carry PC David Rathband's clubs whilst they made their way round the 18-hole course. Speaking to the gathered press, Duncan said "I just thought he (David Rathband) was so inspiring. Here is a man who has been shot in the face and blinded and he's set up a charity to help other people. Davids target is to raise £1million in three years, I don't know how close he is to making that target but he's making good money and he's started to distribute money for the first time."

The golf was followed by a sold out black-tie gala evening. Over 600 guests, including national and regional famous faces such as Loose Woman Denise Welch and husband Tim Healy, Faye Tozer, Duncan Bannatyne to North East radio legends Tony Horne, Goffy and a bundle of ITV Tyne Tees cast.

David gave thanks to Gaudio during the presentation (see video above)  for donating the fantastic trophy made especially for the event.
