Unsung Heroes Honoured at Great Scot Awards
The Scottish Sunday Mail have once again searched the length and breadth of the country to find the unsung heroes and community champions of Scotland as part of the 21st annual Great Scot awards. The prestigious awards ceremony, attended by over 500 guests took place on Saturday 10th September at the Glasgow City Centre Hilton.
BBC Scotland news anchor Jackie Bird hosted the ceremony, which also celebrated the best of Scottish entertainment, music, business, charity and sport. An array of stars, including king of the jungle Christopher Biggins, Emmerdale actor Rik Makarem and LA chat show host Ross King were there to honour prize winners. Performances from BGT winner Jai McDowall and X Factor star Gamu Nhengu went down a storm.
Stand-up comedian Kevin Bridges took home the Entertainment Award, whilst the Sports Award went to budding Formula 1 ace Paul di Resta. Jai, from Tarbolton, near Ayr, was honoured with the Music Award after winning the nation over with his modest attitude and powerful voice in Britain’s Got Talent in June.
